Parmi les photos qui appartenaient à Joseph Kuhlman figurait cette photo avec pour seule mention « Consul Heyn Belfast ». J’avais déjà essayé d’en savoir plus en 2010 mais les recherches n’avaient rien donné. En mai 2020 je trouve l’adresse du Consul de Suède actuel et sa réponse fût sidérante …

Thank you for your interesting email.  The founder of the company I now own was a man called Chevalier Gustavo Heyn who I know was originally from Sweden.  I have also attached a copy of an extract from a book called Head Line G Heyn & Sons Ltd by W J Harvey which covers the history of our company which may be of interest to you.  In this it confirms that he arrived in Belfast as the Consul to Prussia in 1826!  

I have attached is photograph and the years he lived.   I think the painting we have has a close resemblance to your photo although I think the painting was when he was younger than in the photograph.  

I bought the Heyn Group business in 2004 and I am the current Hon Consul for Sweden for N Ireland – the appointment seemed to come with the company!  However apart from the previous owner of the business who was not a “Heyn” family member but was the Consul for Sweden. I am not aware of the history of these appointments.
